HUNTINGDON ROTARY CLUB SALUTES TWO YOUNG HEROES

As reported in the Hunts Post, on Friday 22nd June at about 10.15 p.m. two young men were on their way home from the Hinchingbrooke School Prom. As they walked down Edison Bell Way they noticed smoke and flames coming from a three storey building at the end of the High Street.

They ran to the building, Elm Tree Court, and rang the bell, but no-one answered, and then showing amazing presence of mind, they broke down the door and ran up the stairs to see a big fire on the roof. They ran down and knocked on the doors of all the apartments urging people to leave the building quickly. Such citizenship deserves to be recognised and the young people to be applauded.

Both the boys were guests at the Rotary Club Meeting on Thursday, 6th September, where awards were presented. President Mike Baker said it is so encouraging to see two young 16 year olds behaving in such a public spirited way - we are delighted to acknowledge their presence of mind and quick action.
